Asheville Craftsmen. Passionate About Boats.

French Broad Boatworks was born from a collective passion for creative carpentry, ecology, and boating.

A partnership built from a shared passion for perfection.

Both craftsmen and avid fishermen, founders Jason Brownlee and Will Evert designed their vessels inspired by the Western Dory and Andirondack guide boat designs. A desire to preserve the nostalgia and simplicity of a classic wooden boat while integrating modern materials add improved structural balance to the FBBW models.

Progressive thinking in a traditional art form.

Committed to preserving the ecological stability of native waters, the team offers an electric propulsion assist as an optional motor component for their boats. They have also been commissioned to build several marine railways and docks for clients interested in accessing rivers and lakes from their property. French Broad Boatworks is currently working on a timber framed boat house kit for boat storage and accessories.

Experiencing the French Broad like we used to.

French Broad River Tours.

Additional to building boats, Brownlee and Evert extend guided river tours as a means to offer individuals a memorable experience in a unique vessel. French Broad Boatworks now offers an array of tours along the French Broad River ranging from morning birding tours to sunset wine/beer flight tours.
